IDENTITY: HOW DO I IDENTIFY?

An old friend recently messaged me with a simple question. It was probably for her research, as she is working in grad school right now.

Here is the question and my response, for your records.

AH:
How do you identify? Heterosexual, Bisexual, No Identity, etc…?

MK:
I don’t identify. Two reasons.

1 - Heterosexual is perceived “normal” function, so I’m pretty sure I’ve never felt the need to “identify” in a social interaction as I have historically been pretty in line with “normal” functions. Basically, I’ve never felt like I needed to point out my historical heterosexuality to anyone or myself.

2 - I am unsure of the stability of my sexuality. It’s something I experience in blinks and moments of intimacy. I actually think I experience being a “cyclist” more than a “heterosexual”

hope that helps.
