Salem, OR….It’s not so bad.

I hear a lot of complaints about Salem, Or. Of course, I didn’t grow up there or have to spend much time in the city itself. When I’m there it’s normally for a reason. Working at Cubanisimo Vineyards has been the main one. But this time, while still being at the vineyard, it was a slightly different experience.
Christina, one of my housemates, was given a row of grapes at the vineyard by her father. Her, being the wine-curious soul, recruited me to do some clipping and labor, knowing about my constant quest to not be bored. I partook and it was beautiful. Even when working for free, I can’t imagine a more eventful and interesting way to spend my time then on vineyards and farm-like places.
The wine-making began this weekend. Clipping the grapes, smashing them, de-stemming, punching, and adding yeast. Hopefully Christina will keep me in the loop on this beautiful small batch she’s making.
Enjoy the photos.
