Handmade Cycling Caps by Victoria

Local artisan/cap-maker Victoria Jarvis provided me with these caps recently. Of course, I paid for her services, although I think she could charge a great deal more than what I paid. In retrospect the caps were well worth what I paid and more. But enough of the warm and fuzzies, onto the review of these jovial cycling caps. Enjoy the photos below.

Victoria mentioned having gone through a few patterns, and it is obvious that she has created a refined pattern to template these caps. Although I’ve noticed slight differences in each cap I own, none of them have been essential fit or functional differences. Actually the very small differences in the headband seam, brim, and crown has been pleasant “unique” aspects of each cap. It gives me a good sense of the handmade quality. All three of my caps are made from 100% cotton with a headband elastic piece reaching from one side of the brim to the other. Most seams are finished with a Serger and the brims are attached with reinforced, overlapping seam-ends. The brims are constructed of two sides of the cotton fabric with a sheet of some type of thicker fusing material. This makes the brims floppy, as mentioned above, unlike the other cycling caps with stiff plastic and cardboard brims. The soft, floppy brims are a welcome change for me as I always ride with the brim down on my caps. Without the hard plastic or cardboard, the caps actually ride more comfortably and with better coverage in the down position.
