I’ve had my share of Coney Island hot dogs: the good, the bad, and the really bad. Roake’s is possibly the most unique. This Coney Island hot dog, measure about 15″, is possibly the most unique. It seems that instead of the ordinary recreation of all-meat chili topping the dog, Roake’s has taken a different path. They utilize a secret mash topping with about the only apparent ingridients being pepper and mustard. Regardless it’s quite good and quite well priced.
If you can break away the Portland-metro grind, head to the Portland outskirts and get some Roake’s. It’s more than worth it. Even if you do end up shitting Coney Island sauce for two days.
