Who want’s to spend $975 on me?!
I’ve been shopping around for some parts to build a touring bike for 2010, and just yesterday I spotted this Surly Long Haul Trucker. The LHTs are decent steel-built touring bikes with a bunch of great features (like the extra spokes mounted in the chainstays). At first, I thought this wasn’t a great deal, but then I realized it’s about $100 less than retail for a bike that was ridden probably 500 miles tops. It also comes with over $300 in upgrades. Important upgrades…like a ass-saving saddle, a reliable HS, and some tough racks.
Anybody want to treat me to Christmas/Birthday early this year!?
I can trade you something. A website? Free pant hemming for life? An entry into the secret bike society?

Won’t buy a stranger a bike, but I can do one better than outright ownership: use of an XT 27 speed tourer with all the bells and whistles anywhere you want in Spain or Portugal, in exchange for the contact of Victoria Jarvis – cap maker extraordinaire – featured in your excellent blog.
