One of my life-long dreams came true this weekend. No, I didn’t get to meet Tom Selleck and no, I was not cast in an episode of It’s Always Sunny. My dream of finding a suitcase record player in “working” condition at a Goodwill, however, was totally fulfilled.
It’s a Magnavox Micromatic and it’s probably from [...]

Sunday’s Cross Crusade race was super duper awesome-o!It was also Christina’s first cyclocross race ever (picture to the right after the race). A rad time was had by all. I could barely ride after the past two weeks of on-and-off sickness. I thought I placed horribly, but actually did the same as two weeks ago. [...]

A rather rare occurrence came by this weekend. Normally when in Salem, Christina and I are working at the winery or playing with horses in the country. However, this Saturday we had little to do before noon and were able to hit up the Salem Farmer’s Market.
Being connoisseurs of farmer’s markets (PSU saturdays, Alberta sundays, [...]

Somebody forgot to inform the networks that Willsmithmas is actually July 5th, NOT August 30th. Mother effers.

Christina’s mother, Dale, hooked me up with some horse riding lessons. I was previously fearful, but it was actually a bucket load of fun. Horses are pretty rad, albeit pretty temperamental.
Caruso (pictured left), was kind of a bitch as he apparently has been a teaching horse for some time and has kind of become a [...]

What happens between this limo and this cigar?
About 5 hours of gettting drunk on the best Pinots around (arguably). That’s right, I was delightfully treated to the IPNC’s Passport to Pinot event. What’s the “Passport to Pinot”? Well, a $125 entrance fee opens a world of 60 incredible Pinot Noirs and dozens of deliciously delicate [...]

Time, what a funny idea right? Too much time, too little time, running out of time, all I have is time. It slips by too fast when it matters most and too slow when it needs to pass. I worry constantly that it’s running out on me, and the worrying eats up my time. hah.
Spent [...]

I like my hair. I really do. But I’m losing it faster than I’d like.
Once upon a time I was a punk kid. I dyed my hair every goddamn color of the rainbow. Well, I kind of want to spice up my hair life again. I’m thinking bright. Like super bright.
Any ideas? Any input?
To see [...]

Spent the weekend doing some really fun gardening. Christina and I dug, soiled, and planted. (Dan also pitched in a lot.) It was fun and tiring and back-breaking; I’m feeling it today.
Hopefully in a couple months we’ll be enjoying some fresh veggies prepared with fresh herbs.
Hooray for nice weather….and wonderful girlfriends.

Today Christina and I embark on our road-trip to southern California by way of LA, through Orange County, and for a bit in San Diego. There are many people to see and more adventures to have.
I probably won’t be blogging as it IS a vacation. My Twitter (http://twitter.com/maxisnow) will be available for anyone having withdrawals.
Have [...]

When your seats are close enough to snap this on your iPhone, anyone becomes a fan.
Nice win Blazers. Nice win.
Thanks Christina.

As a gift for my birthday, Christina surprised me with a Wine Blending class at Urban Wine Works. The Urban Wine Works tasting room in NW Portland is very laid back yet classy. It was really educational and fun. Not to mention that we got to drink the entire length of it.
Our instructor, Annie of [...]

I’ve had exactly 27 birthdays in my life (not including my actual birth). And of those 27, I can easily say that this was one of the best. I celebrated with great friends, great drink, great music, and a great girlfriend.
Through the hours of unofficial Kareoke, break-dance amateur hour, power-slides, frat boy wrastlin’, homophobic man-hugs, [...]

Dear Mr. White Ford F-150,
Although you identified yourself as “a cyclist, asshole” as you yelled from the window of your car this morning, I still doubt you are on the OBRA list. Why? Well, because most cyclists would probably sympathize with trying to ride through an inch of snow, being side-swiped by every car that [...]

This most recent storm though Portland is weather I’ve never seen. When it’s not snowing, it’s sleeting or raining freezing water. Yea, freezing rain. The stuff that sticks on impact.
It’s been pretty crazy and we have to stay indoors a lot….however we got out for a bit.
Enjoy.

Once again I had the pleasure of staying at Cubanisimo Vineyards this last weekend. It was the Thanksgiving Weekend Celebration for the vineyard, hosting music, food, and wine in the tasting room through Sunday. I, of course, was disposed in the tasting room, helping the traveling tasters have an [...]

The 2nd Blue Beanie day is upon us. For those super-nerds, you know exactly what this day is. For the rest of you, here’s the skinny:
Friday, November 28, 2008 is the day thousands of Standardistas (people who support web standards) will wear a Blue Beanie to show their support for accessible, semantic web content.
It’s [...]

With Halloween approaching in three days, I thought I could help some of you less sexually fortunate people enjoy the holiday. Everybody talks about Halloween as a fun, costumed night of candy collecting and scary stories. But the truth is obvious. Halloween is just another holiday to try and look cool enough to get a [...]

I hear a lot of complaints about Salem,  Or. Of course, I didn’t grow up there or have to spend much time in the city itself. When I’m there it’s normally for a reason. Working at Cubanisimo Vineyards has been the main one. But this time, while still being at the vineyard, it was [...]
