Max is NOW!
Art, DIY, cycling, wine, philosophy. lifestream.

Last night at Portland Bicycle Studio, Lazer helmets and Ridley bikes really brought the “bling” with some of their coolest gear I’ve seen. It was a fun night of fast bikes, flashy helmets, fun dudes, and foreign refreshments (effing , oh yea).  I was expecting a good time of meeting the reps from each company [...]

These shoes are some top of the line mountain race shoes. However, they are pretty beat and worn…but still totally usable. The good part is that they are worn-in rather well and ride comfortably. Good starter shoes for someone who want’s to try clipless without spending $200 to try it out.

For some reason, my most recent tattoo has illicited disbelief. After posting photos on my facebook and twitter shortly after the sitting, I received numerous comments of doubt. One such comment, from Tiffany, noting my photoshop skills. Well, it’s real.
Let me set everyone strait. This tattoo is very real and resides directly above my latin [...]

That’s right, this saturday.
I’ll post some photos of items I’m selling on my twitter and facebook.
If you want to sell some stuff with us, let me know.

Hey dudes, I’ve got something to show you.
It’s hot, sexy, costs about $30, and it goes on your chest. Yea, dude, you know you want it. Mmmmm.

Many, many moons ago when the world wasn’t plagued with economic [...]

I like my hair. I really do. But I’m losing it faster than I’d like.
Once upon a time I was a punk kid. I dyed my hair every goddamn color of the rainbow. Well, I kind of want to spice up my hair life again. I’m thinking bright. Like super bright.
Any ideas? Any input?
To see [...]

Not sure if I totally missed something here, but why are flat-brimmed hats the new trend in cycling? I guess I should say the new trend in “track bikes.” Which is actually a trend itself, so that’s confusing.
Please see Bike Snob NYC’s discovery here.

Above is a photo from my recent birthday. As I looked around the room at said party I made an odd realization. Of the two dozen or so who attended, almost half of us were wearing flannel shirts. This, however, was not the first time I had accounted such a large number of flannels. Although [...]

I’ve been beginning to bald for a while now. It’s no secret, I just cover it well with my hairstyle. My brother has a widow’s peak that could cut vegetables so I saw the hair-loss coming.
One thing I never prepared myself for was the gray hair. This weekend while receiving a wonderful haircut from [...]

Ever think your legs could use a little comfort, class, and sporty flavour?
Well, look no further.
These wool cycling knickers were created from a former pair of J Crew wool slacks I found at a local Buffalo Exchange. At the cost of $12 I knew that even if unsuccessful, it would be some good practice on [...]

Dear Mom & Dad,
Thank you for what you have made of me. I carry Dad’s sense of humor everywhere I go and I weigh with his somber reflection when the moments arise. When not suffering Dad’s gastric-intestinal disorders, I am echoing his quips about boobs. Mom, I invoke your compassion when others need me and [...]

I’ve been moving into the new house and haven’t had too much free time. However I seemed to have had enough time to piece together the newest member of my stable. She’s a beaut. With a 9speed sprocket set in back, I can rip the raceways and mash hills without hesitation. Just a little more [...]

Christmas has this tendency to be rather self-absorbed. Not necessarily each of us within ourselves, but the country as a whole being self-absorbed. We think about spreading joy and sharing love, but normally that notion ends at our doorstep or our neighborhood, or maybe even as far as the city limits. It’s sweet, really, [...]

The 2nd Blue Beanie day is upon us. For those super-nerds, you know exactly what this day is. For the rest of you, here’s the skinny:
Friday, November 28, 2008 is the day thousands of Standardistas (people who support web standards) will wear a Blue Beanie to show their support for accessible, semantic web content.
It’s [...]

Those familiar with the performance cycling world, have probably heard stories about the Spinergy Rev-X wheels. Basically they could explode. While I’m not absolutley positive if this was just an engineering or production mistake, it happened. More than once.
Well, introducing a potentially new exploding wheel! The HPlusSons rims have been egenrataing HUGE internet interest, [...]

Oh how wonderful being a geek can be sometimes. After my personal discovery of the glorious iPhone app Pocket Guitar, I knew the beginning of the end of traditional music was here. I floored at this magnificent app and slowly realized there was company for this iPhone guitar on the horizon. [...]

Oh lord, I’m a wonderful, genius strongman.
EDIT! – If you want to make your own strongman label/poster/whatever, I have posted some PSD sources here.

Outdoor Research Tremor Jacket Review
I bike. A lot. I bike to work, I bike to bars, I bike to have sex, I bike to the doctor when I get hit on my bike. I bike everywhere. And living in Portland, with the NW gloom and rain, does not make that biking easy sometimes. Last year, [...]

Because I’ve been a good boy alllllll year. And I deserve a present.
You don’t know what I wouldn’t give for this saddle. Possibly $172USD.
Anyone want to buy it and trade me for something? My first born?!

I love it. I made it. Sort of. Well, I assembled and decorated.
Special thanks to the US Military.

This is a pretty funny story about a local businessman cleaning a public bathroom.
However, the best part of the story is Kirk Harrier, City Manager. Is this dude not awesome? That pompadour, that suit, that job title. It’s like 1955 in Saugatuck, MI.
Watch the video in the upper-right corner to see Kirk Harrier in [...]
