The answer to all of the world’s problems was released last Friday, 12/12/2008.
Okay, okay, maybe not ALL the world’s problems….but definitely a lot of problems I encounter on a daily basis. As a Wordpress Expert (I recently dubbed myself this after clocking my third year developing on WP sites), I run into the occasional issues. Most of them are from clients or coworkers who want Wordpress to be more than it is; requests I shrug off to the fact that it’s an open-source piece of “almost perfect” software. However there are some problems I run into myself when I am blogging, just usability or other small issues. It gets frustrating on occasion, and I think “Why doesn’t Wordpress do this?” Well….most of that has been answered.
Having changed not just some incredible functionality in the admin, the Wordpress team has upped the ante making it easier than ever to manage your blog. They’ve put “Quickpress” on the dashboard for on-the-fly dashboard blogging with minimal categorization and tagging, they have an all new web3.0 interface setup, and have basically utilized AJAX to make everything an effing breeze.
It’s brilliant. It’s wonderful. It’s easier than ever to use.
However, in my opinion the #1 upgrade in Wordpress 2.7 isn’t the awesome media uploading tool upgrades, nor the AJAX enabled widget-like window management, nor the awesome layout redesign.
By far, the #1 Wordpress 2.7 upgrade is the Dashboard Plug-in search and install feature. Yea folks….no more searching the web for a plugin, downloading it, uploading it, and installing. You can search the plugin repository from your Dashboard, choose, install. Fast, easy, and really fucking cool.
Check out the new Wordpress 2.7 upgrades….asap.
Enjoy.
