The Goonies II: Oregon Coast with Max and friends

Today Matt, Michelle, Taylor, and myself all traveled to Cannon Beach on the Oregon coast. Having been in Oregon for a week short of a year now, it was a pleasant experience of something outside of Portland. While also being the farthest I’ve traveled by car, it was beautiful to see the dense tree-scapes and think greenery of Oregon.

We also “happen” to have visited the main exterior shooting area for The Goonies. It’s a beautiful beach, with a very different feel than the ones I’m used to.

Misdirected Advertising - The real Men in Black.

Sometimes ad banners in my email are so targeted it scares me. Gmail actually crawls the content of your email to prompt the right advertising tiles.

However…..I have no idea how this one came up.

Apparently my emails would lead one to believe I am into meeting goth guys romantically, who also think they are vampires. Maybe the ad tiles know more than me and I’m playing for the wrong team. Hell, the wrong league.

Offensive Humor

Someone told me this was offensive. I am unsure about that. I remember when “The Ringer” came out, staring Johnny Knoxville. I got in line with some others about what an “offensive” prospect this movie was. I later realized, through reading about the film and it’s support from the Special Olypmics, that just because someone who is developmentall disabled is making jokes, it doesn’t mean people are laughing “at” them. If done right, they are laughing “with” them.

Bike Polo Mallet - BUILD IT!

Okay, so although I’ve only played bike polo once before, it has become a rather frequent topic around recently. I look forward to playing many rounds this summer and decided today that I should fabricate a mallet. As explained on Hardcourt Bike Polo’s site ( http://www.hardcourtbikepolo.com/?page_id=6 ) these is a very practical method of constructing a mallet with an old ski pole and some piping. This seems to be a pretty solid method.

However, I thought it would be nice to sport an all wooden mallet….for kicks.

So here it is.

2 hours later…..I named it Zarathustra. And if you get it (besides that it’s a novel character), then…well I want to make love on your face.
